     1. How do I activate my webcam?

When you go to the "Personalize this Card" page, the webcam recorder will prompt you to grant access to your computer's camera and microphone. Click "Allow" and then click "Close" to activate your webcam. If this doesn’t work, follow the steps in the next bullet.

**If you plugged in your webcam while on the "Personalize this Card" page, follow these steps: 1) refresh your browser (hit F5 of Command-R) and 2) close all other apps that access your webcam. In Firefox, you may have to close your browser entirely and relaunch it.

2. I get an Adobe pop-up window that will not let me click "allow" or "deny" to activate my camera.

It is likely that your settings have been changed from the default to "Always Deny" access to your camera and microphone.

Go to this page and check the settings:  http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html

Select "Always allow" or "Always ask". You might also review the other tabs in the Settings Manager to check that you don't have one of those set to globally deny access.

      3. The application can't find my camera.

Go to this page and check the settings:  http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html. Select "Always allow" or "Always ask". You might also review the other tabs in the Settings Manager to check that you don't have one of those set to globally deny access.

Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the webcam recording interface and choose "Settings" to check that the application sees your camera. Click on the webcam icon at the bottom of the dialog box. Make sure that your camera is correctly selected in the dropdown box there.

Firefox users: you may have to close and relaunch your browser to make this take effect.

The application isn't recording my audio.

Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the webcam recording interface and choose "Settings" to check that the application is using the correct microphone. Click on the microphone icon at the bottom of the dialog box. Make sure that your webcam's microphone (or your computer's internal microphone) is correctly selected in the dropdown box there. Tip: make sure the "reduce echo" box is checked to cut down on excess background noise.
