General
- I’m having trouble viewing the ecards on my computer.
NEW: Vmail.me Webcam Cards
- The application will not let me click "allow" or "deny" to activate my camera.
It is likely that your settings have been changed from the default to "Always Deny" access to your camera and microphone. Go to this page and check the settings: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html
Make sure that this tab is set to "Always ask" or "Always allow". Also it might be a good idea to review all the tabs on the Settings Manager to check that you don't have one of those set to globally deny access.
When you go to the "Personalize this card" page, the webcam recorder will prompt you to grant access to your computer's camera and microphone. Click "Allow" and then click "Close" to activate your webcam.
Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the webcam recording interface and choose "Settings..." to check that the application sees your camera. Click on the webcam icon at the bottom of the dialog box. Make sure that your camera is correctly selected in the dropdown box there.
- The application isn't recording my audio.
Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the webcam recording interface and choose "Settings..." to check that the application is using the correct microphone. Click on the microphone icon at the bottom of the dialog box. Make sure that your webcam's microphone (or your computer's internal microphone) is correctly selected in the dropdown box there. Tip: make sure the "reduce echo" box is checked to cut down on excess background noise.
- What kinds of cameras work with Vmail.me cards?
Any webcam or digital video camera that is connected to your computer via USB or FireWire will work with V-mail.me video cards.
Sending and Receiving Cards
- How can I tell if my recipient received the card?
Check MyAccount / My Ecard History / Details. Next to each card that you have sent, you will see the status of the delivery to each of your recipients:
- Opened: your recipient has viewed your ecard
- Delivered: HDgreetings sent the email but your recipient has not yet viewed your ecard (they may have missed it or their spam filter may have routed it to their junk folder)
- Queued: the email is in a holding period before delivery (gift cards have a 12-hour holding period for security purposes)
- Failed: the email was not delivered (the email address may not be valid or delivery may have been rejected by the organization)
We've worked hard to be whitelisted by email providers like Yahoo, Gmail and Earthlink but individuals or their companies sometimes have filters that prevent emails from reaching them. You can do any of the following:
- Make sure you used the correct email address
- Ask your recipient to check his/her junk folder; ask her to allow email from our domain (www.hdgreetings.com)- we have a strict anti-spam policy and will not solicit your recipients
- Resend the card to a different email address using our 'resend ecard' or 'resend gift card' links
- Send the card to yourself if you know your recipient accepts email from you! How? Send the ecard to yourself, then forward the link to your recipient
Yes! Simply email the card to yourself, copy the link and paste it into your own email!
Membership and Payment Options
Amazon Payments is very similar to PayPal. It allows you to check out and pay using information in your trusted Amazon.com account. If you have an account at Amazon.com, you can sign in using your existing user name and password. If you are using Amazon Payments for the first time, you will be asked to provide more information. For more information on Amazon Payments, visit
the Amazon Payments FAQ.
We have SUBSCRIBER EXCLUSIVE cards and FREE cards. FREE cards are always free to create and send. PREMIUM cards require you to pay to create the card, but you can send and resend them to as many people as you want for free. All of your cards are saved in MyAccount for future use where you can resend them for free. Our PowerSender membership allows you to send unlimited cards for one year for $15.95. You can also create one personalized card for $3.
Upgrading to PowerSender brings the additional benefit of iPhone compatibility (your recipients will be able to view the ecard on iPhone as well as computer) and supporting our artist community! See a comparison of our plans here.
We are supporting a talented community of animators who contribute great content to our site in return for the chance to make money! Not only that, but we need to pay to keep the lights on so that we can continue to bring you the Web’s best ecards! But we want to give everyone the chance to enjoy our cards so we will always have some of our best content available for free.
* If you know that you will enjoy sending many cards and don’t want the hassle of dealing with multiple payments, you are probably a PowerSender. The PowerSender membership entitles you to send as many cards to as many people as you want for one year for one price.
* If you know that you would like your recipients to have the option to view their cards on iPhone, choose the PowerSender plan.
*Otherwise, if you’re likely to send fewer cards throughout the year or know that are not interested in iPhone compatibility, purchase credits. See a comparison of our plans here.
Yes. Once you’ve created and sent a card, it will be saved in MyAccount for later use. You can resend it to as many people as you like for FREE! If you want to change the card, it will have to be ‘rebuilt’ by our servers and is considered to be a new card.
Adding Photos to my Card
Your photo must be 8MB or less. You can use an online image converter if you would like to reduce the size or convert the format.
A perfectly square image will have no border. You can crop your image using any photo editor, including the free online crop tool at www.pixenate.com. It allows you to upload, edit, and save a photo in seconds.
We'll make a face crop feature available soon. In the meantime, using any photo editing tool like Adobe Photoshop or an online crop tool like the one at www.pixenate.com, you can crop any photo as follows:
- The dimensions should be 4x6 (the ratio should be 4:6 in pixels, inches, or whatever scale is used)
- Crop from ear to ear and chin to top of the head
- Save the image as a jpg of 8MB or less
Yes, but when you see the small camera icon in the bottom right corner of a thumbnail image- that's a PhotoInside card! PhotoInside cards allow you to embed a photo inside the animation itself! Cards without that camera icon allow you to attach a photo to the end of the animation. The technology behind our PhotoInside cards is what makes HDgreetings unique.
iPhone, IM and Other Mobile Phones
- How do I send my card to an iPhone?
You will need to become a PowerSender to send to iPhone. When you are ready to share the ecard at the final step of the process on our site, you are asked to check a box if you would like to have the card sent to an iPhone. Make sure that box is checked before you hit the button in that tab- this will make your card ‘iPhone compatible.’ The recipient will be able to pick up their card by email either through their iPhone or computer- or both!
Yes! They will receive the card by email, which they can open on both their iPhone and computer. When they click on the link in the email, they will view the card on either device. On the iPhone, they see a version that is optimized for iPhone. On their computer, they see a version optimized for their computer.
Not currently, but we plan to offer a full iPhone application for sending ecards later this year. If you’d like to have us speed that up, send us feedback.
Yes. There are more server costs involved with making a card iPhone compatible, so we ask that you buy a PowerSender subscription to make your card iPhone compatible.
Not currently but we plan to support other mobile devices next year. Send us feedback if you feel strongly that we should speed this up and let us know what phone/device you’d like to have us support!
Yes- as long as the recipient is using a computer or iPhone. You can paste the card URL into IM as you would any other link. When the recipient clicks on the link, they will view the card in their browser.
Amazon Gift Cards
The recipient will receive an email from us about 12 hours after you complete the Gift Card purchase. We send an email containing an Amazon.com Gift Card claim code and a link to the HDgreetings ecard. You can check MyAccount under the My Ecard History tab to see if the email containing the gift card was opened. Why does it take so long? The delay is intentional- we go through extra security checks for your benefit.
You can resend the email that contains their Amazon.com Gift Card claim code by visiting My eCard History in your account. Next to the ecard that you sent to this recipient, you will find an option that allows you to resend the gift card. Note: if the user's email provider blocked the original email, you might try sending it to a different email address. We've worked hard to be whitelisted by email providers like Yahoo, Gmail and Earthlink but individuals or their companies sometimes have filters that prevent emails from reaching them. Here are some tips:
- Make sure you used the correct email address
- Ask your recipient to check his/her junk folder; ask her to allow email from our domain (www.hdgreetings.com)- we have a strict anti-spam policy and will not solicit your recipients
- Resend the card to a different email address using our 'resend ecard' or 'resend gift card' links
- Send the card to yourself if you know your recipient accepts email from you! How? Send the ecard to yourself, then forward the link to your recipient
Your friend will love you when you instantly resend the gift card! You can resend the email that contains their Amazon.com Gift Card claim code by visiting the 'My eCard History' tab in your account. Next to the ecard that you sent to this recipient, you will find an option that allows you to resend the gift card.
Currently, Amazon.com gift cards are only redeemable at Amazon.com (not Amazon.co.uk , Amazon.ca and other international sites). They are always a good choice if you are sending to a recipient who lives in the US, even if you live outside of the US. Amazon.com ships internationally, but shipping rates outside of the United States may be prohibitively high. You can always check shipping rates for specific products to be shipped to the address of your recipient. In the future, we hope to offer gift cards that can be redeemed at Amazon's non-US sites as well.
There is a record of payments in MyAccount/Payment History. You can also confirm any payments through your Amazon Payments account, by visiting your account. To get there, go to
www.amazon.com, Your Account, click on the Amazon Payments Account link on the far right side, and login using your Amazon account info. Here's a direct link to Amazon Payments:
